A partial list of services I can provide to clients outside of Columbia County, NY.
If you’re interested in learning more or just want to talk to discuss your needs, let me know.

ArcGIS Online

ArcGIS Online (AGOL) is a cloud-based mapping system developed by ESRI. It’s used for making interactive online maps, hosting data, and sharing those maps and data with others either inside or outside your organization. It’s a great way to share the maps, data, and analysis produced for your project. It’s not expensive and provides an enormous amount of flexibility. I can help you set up your own custom AGOL site, or I can work as the administrator and manage the site for you.

Mapping

Mapping for comprehensive planning projects, agricultural protection plans, zoning laws, open space plans, natural resource inventories, infrastructure assets, documenting broadband services – I’ve provided all of these mapping services for my clients, and I can do the same for you.

Training

I can provide training in the use of ESRI or QGIS desktop GIS software, the ArcGIS Online platform, and many other aspects of GIS. I can also provide training in SEQR, environmental impact analysis, site plan review, planning board procedures, and other planning concepts that comply with the annual four hour training requirement for local planning boards and ZBAs.

Data Management

I have a tremendous amount of experience in converting, cleaning, evaluating, extracting, digitizing, mapping, and distributing all forms of spatial data, from hard copy paper maps to the latest digital formats.

Spatial Analysis

Combining and symbolizing various resource layers in a web-viewer or on a paper map allows for some basic visual analysis. To go beyond this simple analysis requires a little more effort. These higher level analysis maps will require more time and expertise to complete than the initial resource maps. The following list is a sampling of some of the analyses I’ve performed for my clients:

  • Environmental Constraints
  • Existing Development Patterns
  • Buildable Properties
  • Developable Area
  • Future Buildout
  • Historic Buildout (Year Built)
  • Open Space Evaluation and Prioritization
  • Viewshed Analysis
  • LESA (Land Evaluation and Site Analysis, for Agricultural land prioritization)
  • Property Values
  • Population Change
  • Density Analysis
  • Erosion modeling
  • Impervious surface analysis
